Leys Farm Livery Stables 16 horses – DIY

Yard snapshot:
Leys Farm Livery is a DIY yard with 16 stables located in the Cotswolds

Why did you want to start running a livery yard?
I had always wanted a yard, something different I could do while still being part of the family farm. It’s a great way to raise children and keep your own horses. My oldest daughter now has her own pony. We have been running the yard for 7 years in total, we started with part and full livery then changed to DIY 2 years ago.

Are there any particular values or principles you try to run your yard by?
Number one is horse welfare, safe and happy and out as much as possible; stress free, no drama, supportive environment

How long have you been using LIVERYLive, and why did you sign up?
We started using LiveryLive in December 2022. The draw was communication. My biggest fear was missing messages – now every message goes to whoever is working and I have peace of mind that messages will be received.

What’s the app feature you use the most, and why?
With the to-do list linked to billing, invoicing is simple.

What’s the biggest benefit LIVERYLive has brought to your yard?
With LiveryLive I now have a much better work life balance. Existing liveries quickly saw the benefits in improved communication – older generations were scared to begin with but soon realised it’s a doddle. All new liveries go straight onto it.

What would you tell other yard owners thinking about starting their trial?
It’s worth £40 a month to have a better work life balance and communication for everyone on the yard, managing staff etc. I wouldn’t be without it.
